Forensic Services
Neuropsychological Services of New Mexico provides comprehensive personalized neuropsychological and psychological information and analysis to insurance providers, case managers, attorneys, health-care providers, and other professionals in order for them to make informed decisions on behalf of clients or companies. Evaluations are objective, cost-effective services, and designed to diagnose, clarify, and confirm disability and/or cognitive impairment due to traumatic brain injury, electrical injury, toxic exposure, anoxia, stroke, and other forms of injury to the brain. Evaluations utilize standardized assessment techniques and instruments to include extensive review of history (employment, education, social), neurological, orthopedic, and psychiatric records, as well as psychological testing to determine the effects of personality characteristics and stress variables on current legal issues and functioning.
What to Expect?
An evaluation typically lasts one to one-and-a-half days. Prior to meeting with the patient, Dr. King will review records and speak at length with the referral source. The evaluation begins with an extensive clinical interview, so that Dr. King can understand the patient's unique concerns and circumstances, as well as to gather information about education, employment, medical history, etc. After the clinical interview is completed, the patient will complete several hours of pencil-and-paper, as well as computer administered tests of neurocognitive functioning. Depending on the complexity of the case and other factors, some patients may need to return for an additional half-day of testing. Following the completion of testing, results are scored and feedback is provided to the referral source.
